Darlene (Nightwalker) Washington

DARLENE (NIGHTWALKER) WASHINGTON, daughter of James "Tom" Nightwalker Jr. and Ruby Julia (Red Hat) Nightwalker, was born January 6, 1946 at Canton, OK. She died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Seiling Nursing Center following a long illness. She was 66 years of age.

Darlene attended her elementary school years at Seiling. I the late 1960's she moved with her family to California. She married Gilbert James Washington, Sr. in California and they had four children: Gilbert James Jr., Shelene Rhea, Dawn Lillian and James Eugene. They returned to Oklahoma and made their home at Seiling for many years where Darlene was a homemaker for her family. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Seiling Indian Mennonite Church.

She is survived by her children, Gilbert Washington and Shelene Washington both of Seiling, Dawn Washington of Woodward and James Washington of Oklahoma City, her God-son, Mario Guzman, four grandchildren, Jessica Guzman, Alexander and Dominic Washington and J. J. "Chunks" Washington, three brothers: Alfred and Anthony Nightwalker both of Lame Deer, MT and Joseph Nightwalker of Seiling; two sisters: Virginia Guzman and Florence Lime both of El Reno and an adopted sister, Myra Medicine Bird of Canton. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Lloyd Nightwalker and two sisters, Kay Nightwalker and Elaine Basurto.

Traditional wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at the Seiling-Fonda Community Center. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Seiling with burial following in the Cantonment Cemetery directed by the Redinger Funeral Home.
