Jed Johnson Querdibitty

October 4, 1929 ~ September 14, 2008

Funeral services for Jed Johnson Querdibitty, 78, of Canton, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Canton School Multi-purpose building with the Rev. Gerald Panana and Rev. Donnie Hahahhaity officiating.

Burial will be in the Canton Indian Mennonite Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the US Air Force under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home of Canton.

Wake service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the Native American Community Center in Canton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, from 9:00 A.M. until 6: P.M. and Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until noon.

Mr. Querdibitty died Sunday morning, September 14, 2008 in Deaconess Hospital at Oklahoma City.

He was born on October 4, 1929 in Lawton, the son of John and Mary (Palo)Querdibitty. Jed attended Riverside and Ft. Sill Indian Schools.He was a member of the Comanche Nation, the Indian Mennonite Church of Canton, The Black Leggins Warrior Society and the Comanche Indian Veteran Association. Jed worked for the Air National Guard at Will Rogers World Airport as an Air Traffic Controller.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Scabbyhorse Querdibitty of Canton; one son: Terry Querdibitty of Oklahoma City; two daughters: Karen Querdibitty of Oklahoma City and Denise Querdibitty of Oklahoma City; four step-children: Alana Black Wolf, Ronnie Scabbyhorse, Ray Scabbyhorse and Kelly Williams, all of Canton; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Nae’he Fairbanks of Canton. Jed was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Querdibitty; three brothers and three sisters.
