Maurice "Funny" Lime Jr.

A wake service for Maurice "Funny" Lime Jr., 68, of Canton, will be 8 p.m. Thurs-day at Canton Christian Church. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Fri-day at Canton Public Schools’ multi-purpose building. Steve Driskill and the Rev. Gerald Panana will officiate. Burial will be in Mennonite Indian Cemetery. Arrangements are by Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

He was born Dec. 1, 1938, south of Canton, to Maurice and Mae Bates Lime and died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

He attended school at Canton and at Concho Boarding School. He had worked as a security guard and later as a law enforcement officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He also worked for Wheeler Brothers Grain Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1996.

He married Charlene Sutton on May 30, 1976.

Surviving are his wife, Charlene, of the home; eight children, Darwin Lime and Timothy Lime, both of Woodward, Derwin Lime of Oklahoma City, Diane Willis, Judy Lime and Daryl Williams, all of Watonga, Betty Ruiz of Purcell and Marlene Reyes of El Reno; two brothers, George Poolaw of Oklahoma City and Buddy Bates of El Reno; six sisters, Bobbie Simpson of Geary, Christine Little Raven of Canton, Ruth Good Blanket of Clinton, Mary Louise Meeks of Shawnee and Georgette and Beverly Childs, both of Red Rock; 36 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

e was preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters.
