Charlene Sutton Lime was born to Arapaho Chief Harry Arthur Sutton and Sallie Blackbear Sutton on January 11, 1943. She departed this life at the age of 70 on July 26, 2013 at OU Medical Center after a brief illness. She attended Canton High School, and married Maurice “Funny” Lime Jr. They made their home in Canton, Oklahoma. She worked at Canton Lucky Star Casino.
Charlene is survived by three brothers, Arapaho chiefs William Ray Sutton and Allen Sutton and Kenneth Paulsen; Sisters, Nancy Sutton, Lavonta Sutton Kenrick, Ava Sutton Benson, Marcella Sutton Armijo, Viola Sutton Hatch, Wilda Sutton Gould; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and foster children.
Charlene was preceded in death by her baby Nell Jeanette Hadley, her husband, Maurice “Funny” Lime Jr., her parents, brother Arthur Warren Sutton, sisters Cora Sutton Scabbyhorse Querdibitty , Patricia Sutton Walker and Georgia Sutton Roberts..
She enjoyed going to powwows, playing cards with family and friends, bingo, was on the Canton Powwow committee and was a member of the Arapaho Nation handgame team. She also played with the Senior Handgame team that travels to Crow Agency, Montana. Charlene traveled many times to Ethete, Wyoming for the Arapaho Sundance Offerings Lodge Ceremony held every year. She was baptized at a young age and reaffirmed her salvation through Jesus Christ.
A traditional wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Canton Native American Gym with Pastor Gerald Panana officiating. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 at Canton School's Multi-purpose building with Pastor Steve Driskill, Pastor Gerald Panana and Pastor Frank Kauahquo officiating. Interment will follow in Canton Indian Mennonite Cemetery south of Canton. OK. Services under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.
