Charlotte “Dora Mae” (Whiteman) Fair

Oct. 3, 1918 ~ June 12, 2012

ENID - A traditional Indian wake service will be held from 7-10 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Native American Community Center, Canton, for Charlotte “Dora Mae” (Whiteman) Fair. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at Canton Christian Church. Burial in Canton Indian Mennonite Cemetery. Arrangements by Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

Charlotte was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Calumet, Okla., to Charles and Neoch (Hoof) Whiteman and died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Kingfisher, at age 93.

Surviving are grandson, Darren Whiteman of Lawton, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

A traditional Indian wake service will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sunday evening, June 17, 2012 at the Native American Community Center in Canton, OK for Charlotte “Dora Mae” (Whiteman) Fair. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012 at Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill and Rev. Gerald Panana officiating. Interment will follow in Canton Indian Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK.

Charlotte was born October 3, 1918 at Calumet, OK to Charles and Neoch (Hoof) Whiteman. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Kingfisher Regional Hospital at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 9 days.

Charlotte was baptized at an early age in the Mennonite Church. She enjoyed knitting and watching western movies and cooking programs. She traveled extensively with her late husband, Otis Fair.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Daisy Alice Whiteman and Lola Green; one brother, Bruce Whiteman; niece Mary Ann Whiteman and nephew Melbourne Whiteman; Survivors include grandson Darren Whiteman of Lawton, OK; Belva Hicks, Doty Lumpmouth, Vicki Walker, Jerrie Whitebuffalo, Georgia Siemens, Joyce Martinez and many other nieces and nephews; also special caretakers Richard Williams and Karen Four Horns, both of Canton, OK. Condolences may be made online at Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home.
