Billy Ray Woodall

We are sad to announce the death of Billy Ray Woodall, who passed away August 2, 2023, at home in Oakwood, OK surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with dementia.

Billy was born on May 29, 1939 in Mission, TX to Arthur and Betty Newkirk Woodall. Billy lived with his aunt and uncle from the age of 11 in Watonga and Canton, OK. He graduated from Canton High School in 1958 and attended Southwest Oklahoma State University for 2 years. In 1960, he joined the Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After the Army, he returned to SWOSU and graduated in 1965.

On March 6, 1965, he married the love of his life, Linda Chaloupek in Mission, TX. They lived in the Rio Grande Valley for 30 years. During this time, Billy worked for Pennzoil as a lease operator. After retiring in 1995, Billy and Linda returned to Oklahoma and settled in Oakwood, where he worked at Boden Oil Co. for 28 years.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James, Arthur Lee and Eugene, and his aunt and uncle Clarine and Bill Newkirk.

Surviving is his wife Linda, son Michael of Thomas, OK, grandson Holden (Kaitlynn) of Bowie, TX, great-granddaughter Laramie and step great-grandson Preston; sisters Betty Mae Bray of Katy, TX and Sarah (Arthur) Cravens of Alvin, TX; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Oakwood Christian Church at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023 with Pastor David Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Canton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
