Kathy Ann Williams
December 19, 1951 ~ June 28, 2022

Kathy Ann Williams was born December 19, 1951 at Clinton, OK to Kenneth and Ida (Nibbs) Williams. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Cherokee Indian Hospital in Cherokee, NC. Kathy’s Indian name was Hiinoonoet, meaning Cloud (above us).

Kathy was raised in Canton, OK and attended Canton Public Schools and Chilocco Indian School in Newkirk, OK. She also attended Draughon’s School of Business in Oklahoma City, OK.

Kathy worked at Cheyenne Industries in Fairview, OK, Hollytex Carpet Mill in Watonga, OK and Cherokee Strip Transit in Garber, OK. She was also a Johnson O’Malley coordinator for Canton Public Schools. She enjoyed spending time with the kids in her community and taking them on special trips to Oklahoma City as a youth coordinator of the Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes. She had a special impact on several kids in her community and they would often show up at her house just to see and visit with her.

Kathy had lived in Dallas, TX, Bethany, Union City, El Reno, Canton and Garber, OK and Cherokee, NC. She enjoyed travelling to Cherokee, NC to visit her children and grandchildren for special holidays, birthdays and summer breaks. Often, she traveled alone, but she would do anything for her precious grandchildren. She never missed sending them special gifts for Easter and Halloween. Kathy also enjoyed making dreamcatchers and dreamcatcher earrings, which she sold everywhere. She enjoyed going to the movies, pow-wows, playing bingo, going to casinos and driving around and listening to music.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Amy Gould; brothers William Williams, Ted Williams and Timothy Williams; sisters Verna Lou Williams and Ida Mae Williams Little Coyote; and one nephew, Lester Levi Fourhorns, Jr.

She is survived by her companion of 20 years, Doyle D. Thorp; one daughter, Amanda Gould and Will Lambert of Cherokee, NC; one son, Kenneth Gould and Renita Harjo of Cherokee, NC; five grandchildren, Aiyana Lambert, Isaac Tsatoke, Zaina Williams, Ayden Lambert and Wasose Moore; brothers Richard Williams and Kenny Williams, both of Canton, OK, Seger Williams of El Reno, OK; sisters Karen Fourhorns and Koreen Gaines both of Canton, OK, Gail Williams and Anna Williams both of El Reno, OK; special nephew Tyrone Little Coyote and several nieces and nephews and extended family.

An all-night wake service will begin at 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 4, 2022 at the Tyrone Little Coyote residence south of Canton, OK. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Waylan Upchego officiating. Interment will follow in Canton Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK. Following the committal service a dinner will be held at the Canton Emergency Response Center in Canton, OK. Condolences may be offered at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
