Bobby was born at Watts, OK on March 3, 1943 to Monroe Oliver and Iva Beatrice (Nabors) Thompson. He attended several schools while growing up moving around with family and graduating at Southwest Miami High School in Miami, FL. He moved back to Oklahoma enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served his country for three years, and was stationed in Germany for 18 months before coming back to Oklahoma.
Bobby met and married LaBerta Rauh after a short courtship on August 10, 1965. They were married 51 ½ great years. Bobby and LaBerta moved back to Canton from Oklahoma City in 1968 to help LaBerta's father farm. He loved to work the fields, smelling the fresh dirt rolling over and watching the cattle.
Bobby worked at several jobs, such as the Canton Farm Store, the Okeene Flour Mill, and oil field while attending and graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in accounting and business. As the oil field work slowed he went to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Canton Lake. He retired from there in 2007 after 27 years. He loved talking with all the campers at the lake. He said they all had lots of stories to tell. Bobby loved his three grandchildren more than anything else. At one time as he grew older, he thought that he wouldn't be blessed with any grandchildren, then he was blessed with three in three years. He was so happy and proud of them.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Monroe and Beatrice Thompson; one sister, Ethel Rutz; two brothers, Joe Thompson and William Thompson; one nephew, Ronnie Carr; He is survived by his wife LaBerta of the home; two sons, Jeffrey and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, OK and Bryan of Canton, OK; three grandchildren, Courtney Thompson of Canton, OK and Kylee and Kaden Thompson of Enid, OK; three brothers, Charles Thompson and wife Jewel of Cameron, OK, Melvin Thompson and Frank Thompson both of Tecumseh, OK; two sisters, Penny Marten of Sallisaw, OK and Emma Webb and husband Elmer of Tecumseh, OK; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much and friends.
