Earl Dean Schoonmaker
(August 22, 1921 - September 7, 2016)

Earl Dean Schoonmaker went to her heavenly home at the age of 95 years and 16 days on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Seiling, OK. She was born on August 22, 1921 at her grandmother's house at Thomas, OK to Earl and Lottie (Huntington) Foust.

Dean was married March 11, 1939 to Earl Thayne Schoonmaker at Taloga, OK. To this union four children were born, Ray Schoonmaker, Steve Schoonmaker, Jack Schoonmaker and DeAnn McGahen. Dean attended school in the Thomas, OK area. She was a lifetime member of the Longdale Community Church where she served as secretary-treasurer on the church board for many years. Dean was an accomplished artist and taught art. She was a homemaker, a quilter, a member of the Busy Bee home extension club, and loved gardening and canning. Hunting and fishing with her husband was a great joy for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl; three brothers, two sisters; one grandchild and one great-grandchild; Survivors include three sons, Ray Schoonmaker and wife Pauline of Longdale, OK, Steve Schoonmaker and wife Karen of Canton, OK and Jack Schoonmaker and wife Glenda of Lake Havasu City, AZ; one daughter, DeAnn McGahen of Longdale, OK; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild;

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2016 at Longdale Community Church with Steve Driskill officiating. Interment will follow in Canton Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK. Memorials may be made to the Longdale Gym Association or the Longdale Community Church with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
