Funeral Services will be held for Maxine Hoots at the Canton Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 with Pastor Steve Driskill officiating. Interment will be at the Canton Cemetery. Maxine Hoots received her reward and went to be with her Savior on March 4, 2014 at Okeene, Oklahoma at the age of 93.

Ethel Maxine Hoots was born on August 18,1920 in Oakwood, Oklahoma to Omar F. Jackson and Illa I. Jackson. She lived all of her life around the Canton community as a homemaker and stay at home mom. She was very active in her church activities, Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star, Opportunities Incorporated, and the many activities and events of her children. Maxine was affectionately known as "Auntie Max" by many of the younger generation as a measure of respect for her loving, caring, and unselfish giving of her time. J.C. Hoots and Maxine Jackson were united in marriage in Canton, Oklahoma on July 3, 1941. They made their home in Canton until J.C. joined the US Army and served during WWII. During the war, she worked many jobs around town and surrounding areas. After the war, and to the union of the marriage, two children, Billy Jay and Susan Beth, were born.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters (Bertha, Edna, and Dortha) and their husbands, an infant brother (Roy), two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, three nieces, and all other members of her immediate Jackson family.

She is survived by son Bill Hoots of Canton, daughter Susan (Hoots) Whetstone of Midwest City, grandson Chris Pembrook of Enid, three step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. She had an opportunity to see most of her family in her final hours and enjoyed telling them how much she loved them.

Arrangements under the direction of the Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be given to the Canton Christian Church, with Haigler-Pierce serving as custodian of the funds at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724. Condolences may be given on-line at www.haiglerpierce.com.
