GENE LeROY EMMONS
CANTON - The funeral for Gene LeRoy Emmons, 71, who died early Wednesday in an Enid hospital, will be at 10 am. Saturday in the First Baptist Church at Canton. The Rev. Mike McReynolds will officiate. Burial will be in the Canton Cemetery under direction of Haigler Funeral Home.

Emmons was born April 7, 1913, in Ellis County and attended school at Southard. He graduated from Canton High School in 1933. On March 30, 1950, he and Ercy Leah Standridge were married in Clovis, N.M. They made their home in Canton where he established the water system and operated an ice plant. He also worked for the Rock Island Railroad for several years and retired from the United States Gypsum Co. in 1978 after 20 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Ercy Leah; two sons, Glenn Dean Emmons and Gerald Lee Emmons, both of Sitka, Alaska; two brothers, Reece and Wade, both of Tulsa; one sister, Merle Hall, Las Cruces, N.M.; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step grandchildren; two step-sons, Bill Enis, Tulsa, and Jack Enis, Russellville, Ark.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.
