Mary “Kathy” Kathleen Oberst was born April 18, 1953, at Okeene, Oklahoma, to Eugene Duke Simpson Roach and Mary Dorothy Roach and passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the age of 70.
Kathy was a resident of the Okeene community for her entire life, attending Okeene schools and graduating from Okeene high school in 1971. After high school she attended Enid Business College for 2 years. Kathy was cafeteria cook, server, and supervisor and was involved in the Hennessy Saturday Social quilting group where she took many classes and learned to quilt. She was part of the Alter Society, as well. Kathy was married to Leroy Joseph Oberst on March 23, 1973, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Okeene. She was a wonderful cook- she always loved baking her famous sugar cookies, and a skillful quilt maker. She is loved by all and will be missed greatly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Duke Simpson Roach, and her sister Jane Marie Roach.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy Joseph Oberst of the home in Okeene, Oklahoma.
Three Sons……………… Ryan Micah Oberst and wife Susannah, Lee Jace Oberst and wife Jinda, Adam Taylor Oberst and wife Stephanie.
One Brother…………… Eugene Roach Jr.
One Sister……………… Patricia "Patty" Ann Smith
Mother…………………. Mary Dorothy Roach
Grandchildren: Luke, Gavin, Zach, and Andrew Oberst; Jordan, Jacee, and Jett Buhr, and Jance Oberst. Ryleigh, Brayleigh, and Stetson Oberst. As well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A viewing and visitation for Kathy will be from 1p.m. to 5p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Wilkinson Mortuary.
The Rosary will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 6p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 30, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Okeene, with Father Jarek Topolewski officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
