A report reached town this morning that there had been a killing on Elk Creek.

We are sorry to learn that the son of Mr. Andrew J. and Mary E. Rayfield, assessor of the Elk Creek District, having been shot and killed by a young man named Jones early Monday morning, June 11, 1895.

An investigation led to a verdict of justifiable homicide.

Burial in Ural Cemetery, Beckham county.
