JoAnn Jones Dixon was born October 2, 1952 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Mildred
Lucille and George Ottis Jones. She passed away December 26, 2016 at Elk City,
Oklahoma at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 24 days.
JoAnn lived much of her life in Elk City. She attended Elk City Schools and at
the age of 15, she married John Gerald Cooper in 1968. She later completed her
welding certificate and was employed by Parker Drilling as Welder. In the early
1990's, she began working at Wal Mart as a Sales Associate until her retirement.
She moved with her children to Tulsa and then Michigan and Missouri before
returning to Elk City to make her home. JoAnn loved to play games, especially
Yahtzee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Tammy Michele Shortemeier,
a granddaughter, Jessica Cooper, and two brothers, Roy Jones and Troy Jones.
She is survived by her children, Kim Louis, Elk City, OK, John Cooper and wife,
Paulla, Elk City, OK; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, her brothers and
sisters, Inis Simpson, Elk City, OK, Floyd Jones, Guthrie, OK, Ray Jones, Elk
City, OK, Mildred Welch, West Plains, MO, Kathie Rios, Elk City, OK; her
son-in-law, Don Shortemeier, Elk City, OK; and a host of other relatives and
friends.
