Thomas Chester "T.C.", "Chick" Davis, Jr. was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, on March 4, 1930. He was the son of Thomas Chester ("Chick"), Sr. and Margaret Pauline (Music) Davis. He passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at his residence in Elk City at the age of 84.

T.C. graduated from Elk City High School in 1947 and then attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford. Following that, he worked at the cotton gin in Elk City and then enlisted in the Air Force. He was first stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas where he was a drill sergeant for new inductees and was later transferred to Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

In 1951, T.C. married Maxine Evelyn Sheaman from Mule Creek, Wyoming. They wed at the 2nd & Adams Streets Church of Christ in Elk City. T.C. and Maxine began their married life living in Wichita Falls until his discharge from the Air Force in 1952, at which time they returned to Elk City and their first child, Randy Chick Davis was born. T.C. worked in the oil field first on big rigs and then as Mud Engineer. Their daughter, Becky Luann Davis Shelton was born in Elk City in 1955. In the following years, the family followed T.C.'s work and lived in locations in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas, once again returning to Elk City in 1959.

Upon their return to Elk City, T.C. and his dad went into business together opening Chick's Pawn Shop and Sporting Goods in downtown Elk City and they later opened a second location in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. They also farmed and ranched together until 1990 when both of his parents had passed away. In 1993 Chick's Pawn Shop closed and T.C. opened Chick's Cowboys & Indians in downtown Elk City. He loved his shop and his friends who stopped by throughout the day to sit awhile and drink coffee or a coke with him. He was renowned throughout the United States for his knowledge in the fields of firearms and Old West, especially Oklahoma Territory, items, and received calls on a daily basis from enthusiasts wanting to glean information from him. He continued to operate Chick's Cowboys & Indians until June of 2014 when ill health prevented him from working. T.C. was a life-long member of the 2nd and Adams Streets Church of Christ in Elk City.

T.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Chick and Pauline Davis, his sister Paula Jean Davis, and his granddaughter Krystal Lynn Davis.

T. C. is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Maxine Davis, of the home; two children Randy Chick Davis and his wife Linda of Decatur, Texas, and Becky Luann Shelton and husband Marty of Frisco, Texas; one grandson John Clifford Shelton and wife Amanda of Midland, Texas; and one great-grandson Gabriel John Shelton of Midland Texas.

During the last few months of his illness, Johnnie and Carolyn Thompson, Dr. Jeffrey Lester, and the nurses of Faith Hospice lovingly helped T.C.'s family care for him at home.

Memorial donations can be made to Westview Boys Home, Tipton Children's Home, or In Search of the Lord's Way Program in care of Whinery Funeral Service.
