Fred E. "Tad" Allen was born April 2, 1931 on the family farm
near Spring Creek, Oklahoma to Ora and Fred Curtis Allen. He passed away
February 19, 2015 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years10 months and
17 days.
Tad grew up in the Spring Creek community and attended school at Ocina
before moving with his family to Burns Flat. He later enlisted in the US
Army Air Corps and after his discharge, he farmed south of Durham, Oklahoma
for a while before moving to California. He remained…
there for a year before moving to Hobbs, New Mexico and then later to Las
Cruces, New Mexico. Tad married Jimmie Irene Hall in Cheyenne, Oklahoma and
they made their home in Las Cruces. They eventually made their way back to
Oklahoma and he purchased two service stations, one in Elk City and one in
Cheyenne. He continued to operate those years businesses for several years.
Tad served as the Roger Mills County Clerk from 1965 to 1977 and they moved
to Ashland, Kansas where he operated a couple of motels. Jimmie passed away
in 1994 and later that year he returned to Cheyenne where he retired. Tad
was married to June Tice at Clovis, NM on April 3, 2000 and they continued
to make their home in Cheyenne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jimmie Irene Allen,
a daughter, Billie Jean Hall, 3 brothers, Carl, Norman and Orman Allen.
He is survived by his wife, June, of the home; 6 children, Carolyn Moore and
husband, Ike, Checotah, OK, Edward Hall, Debbie Archer, Lawrence, KS, Fred
Earnest Allen, Jr., Prague, OK, Curtis Allen and wife, Donnette, Liberal,
KS, Kevin Allen and wife, Ruth, Augusta, KS; 17 grandchildren, 23 great
grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Robert Allen,
Clinton, OK and Lynn Allen, Yukon, OK, and a host of other relatives and
friends.
