Leah Allen Wylie was born February 12, 1899 in Floresville, Texas to Will and Francis Allen. She passed from this life Wednesday, Autust 10, 1983 in the Willowbrook Care Center, Kernersville, NC. following a lengthy illness at 84 years of age.
In October 1910 she came to Granite, Okla. with her parents, after about 4 years they moved to Carter, Okla., then moving to Durham, Okla. about 1929 and living there until her health failed. She then moved to Winston-Sale, NC to be near a daughter. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Reydon.
Her parents, five sisters and six brothers preceeded her in death.
Survivors include Laverne Burkett of Lexington, Okla., Madelon Sides of Fresno, Calif., Jeanne Bradley of Lubbock, TX; Jo Ann Tests of Winston-Salem, NC.; Betty Crabb of McPherson, KS; Margaret Westlake of Los Angeles, CA; 2 sons, Charles Ross of Graham, TX; Rube (Jr.) Bingham of Winson-Salem, NC; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 12, 1983 at 4:00 p.m. in the United Methodist church of Cheyenne with Garland Spurgin officiating. Interment followed in the Fariview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers were Dewitt Hawkins, Lowell Malson, Ronald Hensley, Gene Johnson, Bob Barton and Wesley York.
