Funeral services for Joe Windell Walton will be held on Friday, February 18, 2005 at 10 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Home Chapel of Elk City with Rev. David Flick officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery at Haammon under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
Joe Windell Walton was born May 20, 1924 in Hammon to Wilbert and Pearl Trent Walton and died in Claremore on Tuesday, Februarfy 15, 2005 at the age of 78.
He graduated from Hammon High School and then continued his education at Oklahoma State University.
Joe served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 until his discharge in 1945.
He was married to Winnona LaVerne Allen on March 24, 1942 in Wheeler, Texas. They lived in Enid while Joe was in service and also lived in California, Texas, Arizona and Oklahoma and moved to Elk City in 1978 where he has lived until some 18 months ago when he moved to Claremore to be near his family.
Joe was an electronics engineer and also taught school. He was a member of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 24, 2000, his parents and sister.
Survivors include two childdren, LaVerna Jo Moberly and husban, Ronnie of Claremore, and Jerry Windell Walton and wife, Jeannine of Grass Valley, California; four grandchildren, a sister, Lorena Hollingsworth of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a brother, Wayne Walton of Claremore.
