Naomi Lavina Tidwell Submitted by: Wanda Purcell
Naomi Lavina Chesney was born November 18, 1884 at Decatur, Tex. At the age of 18 she moved with the fmily to Elk City and later to the vicinity of Cheyenne where she met and married Francis Mation Tidwell October 4, 1905. He preceded her in death January 21, 1927.
To this union were born Chesney M. Tidwell and Mrs. Myrtle Withers of Cheyenne; Mrs. Anna Belle Bright of Berlin; Murray, Wallace Grady and Rosa Dena of Grimes; and Mrs. Ruth Ostrander of Gelndale, California. These were all present at the time of her passing except Mrs. Ostrander.
Other relatives who mourn her departure include three brothers, Isom Chesney of elk City, Walter Chesney of Lawton, and Charlie Chesney of Carter; one half-sister, Mrs. Lou Owens of Hobbs, New Mexico; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Tidwell was converted and joined the church at a very early age. As long as health permitted she was active along with her husband in church work. Neighbors and friends were lavish with praise when speaking of her as a neighbor and a friend. She leaves as a lasting result of her life work a family of good citizens who will carry the mark of her influence in their lives as long as life shall last. The memory of her well spent life serves to help lift the burden of sorrow occasioned by her departure at 12:04 a.m. January 31, 1941, at the age of 56 years, 2 months and 13 days after an illness of about eight months.
Her well earned rest has come. May we through our tears of gried, smile as we think of her great reward.
