Frank E. Purvis, Elk City, died Friday night, January 23, 1959 at his home, following a two year illness. Services were Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist church at Cheyenne with Rev. Garlin Wilson, Elk City and Rev. John Paul Jones, Cheyenne officiating.
Born February 1, 1879 in Stephens county, Texas, Mr. Purvis came to Oklahoma in 1903, residing in the Cheyenne area until ten years ago when he moved to Elk City.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the Methodist church.
One son, Frank, died in 1945.
Survivors are his wife of the home; six sons, H. of Reydon, Adis of Blanco, California, Welthy of Corning, California, Dick G. of Tucson, Arizona, Bill of Farmington, New Mexico, Nile of Burke, South Dakots; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Hunter, Wheeler, Texas, and Mrs. Opal Meyers, Oklahoma City; 24 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Committal was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
