Mrs. Monnie Lee McEntire, Dempsey community pioneer, died at the Sayre hospital Sunday, June 14, 1959 following a lengthy illness, and services were conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Sunny Point community building with R.D. Wehard, minister, officiating.
Born February 5, 1898 in Denton, she came to western Oklahoma in 1900 with her parents, and settled at Willow, Oklahoma, later moving to Elk City. In 1928 the family moved to the Dempsey community where she was a resident.
She was married to Tom McEntire April 5, 1917, at Cordell.
She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses. Her parents and three brothers preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Tom J. of the home at Grimes, two sisters, Mrs. Emma Smith, Memphis, Texas and Mrs. Leslie Moore, Clinton.
Pall bearers were Elzie McEntire, O.C. Nobles, Marvin Satterfrield, Huston McEntire, Larue McEntire and Olen McEntire.
Committal was in the Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Moore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
