Buster Melvin Dodson was born October 15, 1918 in Maud, OK and passed away June 21, 1991 in the Presbyterian Hospital of Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Buster, the son of Bud and Emily Dodson, came to Roger Mills County with his family at the age of 10, riding all the way on horseback. On May 14, 1937 he married Mae Betty Pinkston in the middle of a Roger Mills County road, with the services being performed by the late Reverend Bob Carter, who was standing in a norse drawn wagon at the time. They lived in the Herring Community where he was active in ranching and farming. He served in the U.S. Army in 1945 at Camp Hood, TX. Mr. Dodson was also an execellent dozer operator and was employed by serveral firms building goverment dams and roads. He also was employed by the County of Roger Mills, District 1. He was a loving family man and had many friends. He believed in "land and cattle" and they brought him much joy in later years. He had made a personal commitment to Christ as his personal Savior in recent years. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant brothers, 1 daughter; Anglyn Fay, 1 grandchild, and 1 great grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; 5 daughters, Rosa Moran of Milford, CN; Lynda Walker and her husband, Donnie of Grimes, OK; Joan Hagerman and her husband, Butch, of Sweetwater, OK; Karen Barber and her husband, Jim, of Crawford, OK; Melva Dunlap and her husband, Larry, of Sayre, OK; 2 sons and daughtgers in law, Earl "Tubby" and Barbara Dodson of Nowata, OK; Mark and Janey Dodson of Beaver, OK; 2 sisters, Ruby Bogges; Sarah Faye Kirk and her husband, Martin, all of Elk City, OK; 2 brothers and sisters in law, Frank and Hazel Dodson of the Dempsey community; Sam and Linda Dodson of Hammon, OK; 15 granchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cheyenne School Auditorium with A.L. Martin and Kenneth Gamble officiating. Burial followed in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, OK under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
The family requestes in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital.
