Elise Yarbrough was born March 21, 1931 in Straubing, German, to Ottlia and Johan Schillinger. She passed away March 30, 2016 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years and 9 days.
Elise grew up in Germany during the dark time of World War II. She met Arthur Yarbrough who was stationed at a US Army Base and they were married at Straubing, Germany on May 6, 1956. When she and Arthur returned to the United States, Elise didn't speak English and learned the language by reading romance novels. They lived with his mother in Georgia for a time and later lived at several different bases in the US and Germany until moving to El Paso when he retired from the military. They remained in El Paso until moving to the Midland/Odessa area. They returned to El Paso for a short time before moving to Sayre in 1992 to make their home. Elise loved doing ceramics, crossword puzzle and watching soap operas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 11 brother and sisters, a great granddaughter, Harper Halcomb.
She is survived by her children, Richard Yarbrough and wife, Wanda, Sayre, Ok, Eve Ricadio, Sayre, OK, Martin Yarbrough and wife, Julie, Elk City, OK, Michelle Anderson and husband, Michael, Sayre, OK; grandchildren, Jennifer and David Alexander, David, Tim and James Ricadio, Cheri Halcomb and husband, Mark, Shane Yarbrough and wife, Marie, Ricky and Ashley Yarbrough, great grandchildren, Baily, Kaitlyn, Jaicey, Mason, Desmond, D.J., Cason, Ellie, Jaeger, and Aurora; 1 brother, Hans Schillinger, Straubing, Germany, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Chapel services will be held Monday, April 4, 2016 at
2:00 PM at Rose Chapel officiated by Kendell Hamilton. Burial will be at Lone
Oak Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral
Service of Sayre. Condolences can be made online at
