Royce Clayton Rose © Cheyenne Star 16 Dec 2004 Submitted by: Wanda Purcell Royce Clayton Rose was born December 26, 1919 in Perkins, Oklahoma to Mable Boydston and Charles Clayton Rose. He passed away December 13, 2004 at Sweetwater, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Royce graduated from New Liberty School in 1941.
In March of 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II. He excelled to the rank of Tech Sergeant and was one of the fortunate few who lived to tell of D-Day, and tell he did.
While enlisted, he attended UCLA and after his discharge in 1945, he continued his education at Oklahoma State University.
He was married to Lavena Imogene Fuchs on October 10, 1948 in the parsonage of the New Liberty Church. Royce and Labena made their home on Buffalo Creek with their son, Henry Lee, where Royce farmed and ranched.
He was longtime member and supporter of the New Liberty Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife; three brothers, Morris, John and Dean; and one sister, Glenna Mae Rose Burch.
Survived by his son, Henry Lee Rose and wife, Earlene, Bulo, Oklahoma; {whom Royce called "Pee Wee"}; two grandchildren, Justin Rose and wife, Lanette, Bulo, Oklahoma; and Junita Powers and husband, Tuff, Dempsey, Oklahoma; one very special angel, Kaylyn Rose; one sister, Betty Ann Campbell, Wellington, Texas; host of other relatives and Dr. Pepper sharing friends.
Services will be held December 16, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Liberty Church officiated by Jimmy Dean and Calvin Easterling.
Burial will be at the Lone Oak cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
