Eugene Benton was born November 2, 1935 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Clark and Theta (Hunt) Benton. He passed away April 14, 2017 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 12 days.
Eugene graduated from Cheyenne High School and continued his education at Sayre Junior College where he received his Associates Degree. While attending college, he met the love of his life, LaGayla Mae Robertson. They were married at the Lone Oak Baptist Church west of Sayre on December 24, 1955. They moved to Casper, Wyoming for a short time before returning to Sayre. He later worked for Producer's Chemical in Borger, Texas then was employed with Phillips Petroleum for 11 years. They purchased the family farm northwest of Sayre and returned there to make their home. Eugene drove a truck for Farmer's Supply and then Galmor's until retiring in 2001. He enjoyed spending many family vacations at the lake, tent camping and skiing. He never missed any sporting events that his brother or children were participating in.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Rose Mary, a son, Ronald Wayne, a grandson, Brody Joe Jennings and a sister, LoRita.
He survived by his wife, LaGayla, of the home; a daughter, LaDonna Lynn Jennings and, husband, Jerry, Sayre, OK; a son, Gary Gene Benton and wife, Tammy, Waco, TX; 4 grandchildren, T. J. Jennings and wife, Nikki, Dustin Benton, Lyndy Parnell and husband, Rodney, and Taylor Benton, 2 great grandchildren, Payton Jennings, Draykin Fannin; a brother, Carl Joe Benton, Morrison, CO., and a host of other relatives and friends.
