Ginger (Haggard) Savage

Ginger Haggard Savage was born August 13, 1947 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Elvyn and Clariene Haggard. She passed away December 10, 2014 at her Elk City home at the age of 67.

Ginger was married to O. Ronald Savage, II on June 17, 1967 in Elk City. They were married for 47 years. Ginger was a member of the United Methodist Church where she had been employed as the financial secretary for 40 years. She had also traveled with the Church Mission Group to Old Mexico. Ginger was very active in the community where she was a member of Epsilon Epsilon Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, PEO, the Bridge Club, the Birthday Club and was the Past President of Jaycee Jaynes and assisted in the establishment of the Elk City Child Development Center. She was the co-owner of Savage Funeral Home and worked part time for Hylton's Flower Shop for many years.

Ginger will be missed by her many friends who will remember her for her caring, loving and jovial manner. She was considered as a sister, mother and grandmother by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by a one granddaughter, Tessa, and her parents, Elvyn and Clariene Glasgow Haggard.

She is survived by her husband, Ron, of the home; a son, David Savage and daughter-in-law, Jill, North Richland Hills, Texas; 3 granddaughters, Emily Savage, Sara Savage and Katie Savage; a brother, Randy Haggard and wife, Janice, Elk City, OK; her nieces, Amber Haggard, Garden City, KS and Erin Larson and husband, Greg, Edmond, OK; a nephew, Colby Haggard, Edmond, OK; a sister-in-law, Joanne Mefford and husband, Max, Amarillo, TX; nieces, Kelli Allen and husband, Doug, Fernandina Beach, FL; Brandi Stevens and husband, Jeff, Oklahoma City, OK and Kris Mefford, Amarillo, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Ginger Savage Antiphonal Organ Fund, in care of the United Methodist Church, P O Box 868, Elk City, OK, 73648.

The family requests that guest wear bright colored clothing as they join the family in celebrating Ginger's life.

Services will be held December 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Elk City United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Terry Koehn and assisted by Rev. Devon Krause and assisted by Rev. Carlos Ramirez and Rev. Wendi Neal. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
