Al Reed

Al Reed was born April 30, 1941 in Wheeler, TX to Viley Pearl and Cleave Newton Reed. He passed away May 28, 2014 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years and 28 days.

Al grew up in Reydon, Oklahoma and was married at the age of 16 to Ruby Odom on April 5, 1957. After their marriage, they moved to Colorado where they worked on a ranch for a short time before making Elk City their home in 1961. He worked at Case Power and Equipment until 1975 when he opened Al Reed's Diesel Service on Merritt Road where his honesty and reputation helped his business flourish until 1998 when he retired from the diesel service. During his "retirement" his hard work continued at various jobs including driving over 2 million miles for a trucking company until the age of 69. He spent the remainder of his life in Elk City. Al enjoyed mountain climbing in his jeep, fishing, camping and talking to anyone about his 1955 Studebaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joy Smith.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Pitts and husband, Gary, Elk City, OK, Cindy Copeland, Kennedale, TX and Karen Bardwell, Elk City, OK; "son", Steve Tosh and wife Jamie, Elk City, OK; grandchildren, Amanda Thompson, Arlington, TX, Jeff Rios, Craig, CO, Andy Pugh, Arlington, TX, Matthew Pugh, Arlington, TX, Jaclyn Garrett, Houston, TX, Kristy Chilcoat, Elk City, OK, Brandon Bardwell, Elk City, OK; great grandchildren, Caleb Thompson, Arlington, TX, Nicoli Rios, Craig, CO, Brett Pugh, Arlington, TX, Zakary Russell, Houston, TX, Adalyn Rivera, Houston, TX, Jayden Boyett, Elk City, OK; brother, LG Reed, Wheeler, TX; sisters, Sherry Carpenter, Yukon, OK and Dora Fae Bryan, Amarillo, TX and host of other relatives and friends.
