Jones, Robert G. “Bob”, 87, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma.  Bob was born February 22, 1925 in Hydro, Oklahoma to Lewis and Anna Mae (Carter) Jones.  Bob was united in marriage on June 4, 1949 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Freida Mae Mutschler.

Bob attended the Swan and Cedar School districts and graduated from Weatherford High School.  He was drafted in the United States Army during WWII assigned to the 77th Infantry Division serving as a private and discharged as a Staff Sergeant.  He received the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, two Overseas Bars, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon.  After being discharged from the Army, Bob received his technical trade plumbing license in Kansas City, MO and received further certificates in heating and air conditioning from the Sooner Trade School in Oklahoma City.  Bob retired from the University of Oklahoma after 27 years as a Superintendent of Technical Trades.  Bob enjoyed playing dominoes, woodworking, building birdhouses and bird feeders, and traveling and camping after retirement.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of the GCGeer's at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Norman Moose Lodge 1799.

Bob is survived by his wife, Freida Jones of the home; son, Michael Jones and wife Pam of Norman; daughter, Cheryl Bost and husband Eddie of Norman; five grandchildren, Heather Kirby, Elrich Bost and wife Heather, Tanner Jones, Ariel Bost, and Rosie Jones; three great grandchildren, Taylor Willige, Riley Kirby and Freya Bost. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to the COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Ave., Suite 302, Miami, FL 33133 or the Norman Regional Hospital Foundation, P O Box 1665, Norman, OK 73070-1665.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2012 at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church, 200 W. Hayes, Norman with interment following in Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma.  Arrangements for Bob and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.  Online condolences may be shared at www.havenbrookfuneralhome.com
