Larry Dennis George, beloved youngest son of Charles Raymond and Carrie Mae (Tully) George, was born June 3, 1941 in Dixon, Missouri. Larry passed away in his home on January 10, 2019 while in the loving care of his wife of twenty two years, Cindy Jo "C.J." (Percival) George, and his daughter, Tiffany S. George.

Larry was extremely close to his daughter and counted one of his proudest moments the day she won the Big Eight Tennis Championship in doubles, as he watched with tears in his eyes. Besides being the proud father of Tiffany, Larry has been a loving stepfather to Kathryn Jean Percival and Charles Thomas Percival.  Larry retired from his position as regional sales manager for NAPA out of the Oklahoma City Distribution Center in June of 2003. Before becoming associated with NAPA, Larry enjoyed a wide and varied career path. Larry joined his brothers Bill and Dale in opening an auto parts business now known as the St. Robert Auto Supply. He owned and operated a motel where he was known to comp rooms to his young nieces and nephews, allowing them unrestricted access to the pool and restaurant. Thereafter, Larry came to Tulsa, Oklahoma working as a brakeman for the Frisco Railroad. After obtaining a near perfect score on the engineer’s exam, Larry moved to Enid continuing with the Frisco as an engineer. Ultimately Larry joined the NAPA workforce. Larry long held a passion for automobiles, especially the fast ones.  As a young man he was the owner of a racing team operating in the Waynesville vicinity. He was a lifelong fan of NASCAR. Upon his retirement, he and C.J. became members of The National Street Rod Association and Good Guys Rod and Custom. Larry and C.J. entered the car show scene with a variety of award winning vehicles from a 1932 Ford to a 1970 Chevelle SS. They traveled the United States in their cars beginning in mid-March and ending in early October each year, always driving their show cars to each destination.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, daughter and step children; sister-in-law, Vivian George of Joplin, Missouri, his niece and nephew, Laurie George and Dan Baird of Nashville, Tennessee; niece Connie Mace and her son, Brad Mace of Joplin, Missouri; niece and nephew, Dale and Vicki Phillips of Joplin, Missouri; and a host of friends and associates met during his travels on the car show circuit. Other special friends include: Kenny Keith of Keith’s Automotive and Mike Redpath of Muscle Rodz and Customs, both of whom were intimately involved in all the George hot rods and were known to rescue Larry and C.J. on occasion; David Smith; Russell and Kelly Himes; and neighbors, Mike and Susan Reed.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Junior, Dale, and Bill; and one nephew Michael George.

Larry will be laid to rest in C.J.’s hometown, Elk City. C.J. and Tiffany wish to acknowledge the loving care provided by Kindful Hospice, especially by Larry’s nurse; Beverly, and his aide, Yolanda.

The family asks that in the lieu of flowers, donations be made to Able Community Based Services, 300 North Crawford Ave., Norman, Oklahoma 73069 or the charity of their choice.
