Johnny grew up in Anson, Texas where he attended school and graduated in 1977. After graduation he remained in the Anson area where he cared for the family farm. In 2008 he moved to Elk City and went to work in the oil field. Later in 2010 Johnny went to work for Northfork Correctional Facility. In January of 2012 he met and was later married to Terri (Nickens) Frye on April 24, 2015. After their marriage they made Elk City their home. Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to garage sales and caring for his animals.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Terri, of the home; 3 daughters, Tish Taylor and husband, Toby, Wall, TX, Ria Wylie and husband, Aaron, Pittsburg, TX and Kristen Lenderman and husband, Matt, San Angelo, TX; 1 son, John G. Frye, Hamlin, TX; 3 step children, Jennifer Smith, Elk City, OK, Brandon Smith, Canute, OK and Corey Smith and wife, Tara, Elk City, OK; 14 grandchildren, Page, Cole, Brandt and Issabella "Izzy" Taylor, Abby and Ayden Wylie, Ainsley Lenderman, Josiah, Landon, Patience McKinley, Adilyn McGaha, Aiden, Brooklyn, Camden Smith; 5 sisters, Harriett Ann Sargent, Isabel Rebecca "Tic" Frye, Judy (Frye) Pollard all of Abilene, TX, Joy Bradshaw, Clyde, TX, Suzanne Ballard, Altus, OK; 1 brother, Charles Frye, Eldorado, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
