Funeral Services for Helen Patton (Crow) Brown were conducted Tuesday, September 6, 2005 aat 10:30 a.m. from the Elk City Community Church with Judy Timms officiating.
Interment followed in the Fairlawn Cemetery of Elk City under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home.
Helen Merle Patton Crow Brown was born May 9, 1932 to George T. and Lizzie Horrell Patton on a farm northwest of Leedey, Oklahoma and passed on from her home September 2, 2005 at the age of 73.
She grew up in the 3-Corner, Strong City area.
She graduated from Hammon High School.
Helen married Gayle E. Crow on November 22, 1951 in Elk City, Oklahoma. They lived on the family farm northwest of Hammon and then traveled through Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming while Gayle worked on the pipeline. They returned to the farm until they moved to Elk City in 1959.
Helen worked at Montgomery Wards in Elk City until the birth of their son and she then stayed home to raise the two children and help her husband with his home insurance agency until his death in 1986.
Helen married Lloyd O'dell Brown on October 15, 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; her husband Gayle Crow; and one granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband Lloyd Brown Sr. of the Elk City home; one daughter Melody and her husband Charles Cummings; and one son Gayle Lamont Crow and wife Cherri; all of Elk City, Oklahoma; two step sons, Lloyd O'dell Brown Jr. and Robert Brown and his wife Michelle of Elk City; eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one sister Velta and her husband Henry Jones of Elk City; four brothers, Leon Patton and his wife Mary of Ulysses, Kansas; Leo Patton and his wife Edna of Elk City; Kenneth Patton and his wife Debbie of Checotah, Oklahoma; and John Patton and his wife Cheryl of Mc Alester, Oklahoma. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
