Funeral services for Orvil Lee Bogges, will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Cheyenne First Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Romberg and Rev. Aubrey Cowan officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
Orvil Lee Bogges was born July 29, 1915 southwest of Hammon in the Kiowa Community to Eli and Mary Ann Guthrie Bogges and died Saturday, July 26, 1997 at the age of 81.
At the age of one, Orvil moved to the Herring Community with his family and has resided there his entire life.
He was married to Floreta Evans on December 24, 1937 at Cheyenne.
Orvil was a farmer and rancher all of his working career and also worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department for 13 years retiring in 1978. He continued his ranching until his health failed.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne and a member of the Oklahoma Farmers Union for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Alfred Bogges and his sister, Nila Boulware.
Survivors include his wife Floreta Bogges of the home, two sons Larry Bogges and his wife Shirley of Lawton and Gary Bogges and his wife, Barbara of Harrah; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Casket bearers John Smith, Dan Sprowls, John McDaniel, Melvin Summers, Tom Beaty and Joe Pyeatt.
