Mildred Armstrong was born In Sayre, Oklahoma on May 28, 1930 to Bessie and Houston Moseley. Mildred spent her childhood in the Sayre area with her parents and brothers, Delbert, Lee, Howard, and sister Barbara. She attended Doxey Schools and was married to her husband, Donald Armstrong, in Wheeler, Texas in 1947. The two were blessed with a daughter, LaDonna, and a son, Morris.

They relocated to Bagdad, AZ in 1950, where they established their home for the next 27 years. She worked in the only store in town beginning as a cashier, then bookkeeper, and eventually became manager of the store. She retired in 1977 and moved back to Elk City where she worked in the Dietary Department at Elk City Regional Hospital. In 2000 she moved back to Arizona settling in Prescott Valley to be near her children, grandchildren and sister.

Mildred is survived by; grandchildren John Nelson IV, Julie Nelson, Brandan Armstrong, Andra Hamilton and husband Shannon ,step granddaughter Amanda DeBuigne and husband Jeff, great grandchildren Martin Armstrong Gavaldon, Leon Armstrong, sister Barbara McBride and husband Jack, sister-in-law Charlotte Moseley, daughter-in law Frankie Armstrong, son-in-law Mark Dabbs, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Armstrong, her children, daughter, LaDonna Nelson Dabbs, son, Morris Armstrong, son-in-law John Nelson III, and her brothers Delbert Moseley, Lee Moseley, and Howard Moseley.

Mildred was a very patient person. She loved nothing more than going fishing and she could out stay and out fish all of us! She may not catch anything, but it was the peace and quiet of nature all around her that drew her. And she loved to cook! Mildred was a wonderful cook. She could cook anything and everything, and well. And she had the patience to teach her skills to anyone who wanted to learn. But Mildred had the advantage of coming from wonderful cooks. Her mother was a great cook, and so was her Grandmother Moseley! She was a culinary genius! Mildred will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. She was a strong person, a person who always had time to listen.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, OK.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers or other considerations, donations be made to Hospice of the Pines or the American Cancer Society.
