Gayle attended Altus Public Schools all twelve years. In high school she participated in pep club, journalism, speech, and drama. Because of her fun loving personality and great sense of humor, Gayle was voted Most Popular girl all three years in high school. She graduated in 1961. After high school, Gayle attended Southwestern State College where she met the loved of her life Jimmy Neal Albert. They married in Altus on April 20, 1962 and started their forty-seven year marriage in Elk City. Their beloved son Bo was born on June 30, 1966.
