Flossie (Bearden) Speed

Flossie Speed was born March 12, 1925 in Denver, Colorado to Frankie Mae
and Lee Oander Bearden. She passed away July 25, 2016 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 13 days.
Flossie, as a young child, moved with her parents to Phoenix, Arizona where she
grew up. At the age of 12 Flossie was saved and baptized at the First Baptist
Church there in Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School
in 1942. After her graduation she was married to Jack Patrick Speed at
Flagstaff, Arizona on July 8, 1942. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona and later to
Abilene, Texas in 1953 and to Erick in 1958 where they made their home. Flossie
and Jack remained in the Erick community while Jack continued to work in the oil
and gas industry. Upon Jack's passing in 1989 Flossie remained in Erick until
2014 when she moved to Oklahoma City to be near her children. She enjoyed
traveling and spending time in Las Vegas, sewing and being active on the Bank
Board, Chamber of Commerce and the Roger Miller Museum Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and daughter-in-law,
Ira "Joe" and Nyla Speed; grandsons, Chuck and Phillip Speed and one great
granddaughter, Avry Maynard.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gibson and husband, Philip, Norman,
OK; 1 son, Gerald "Jerry" Speed and wife, Denise, Edmond, OK; 4 grandsons, Joey
Speed, Joe Dell Speed, Landon Speed and Shawn Gibson; 3 granddaughters, Kimberly
White and husband, Brian, Holly Maynard and husband, Chris and Anastacia Speed;
16 great grandchildren, Luci, Logan, Ashton, Brendon, Carli, Noah, Madysen,
Speed, Layla, Emma, Jerra, Jared, Colby, Megan, Eli and Brysen and a host of
other relatives and friends.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s
Association instead of flowers.
