Ann Mills was born November 18, 1931 in Delhi, Oklahoma to Tullie and Harvey Turner. She passed away December 18, 2016 at Amarillo, Texas at the age of 85 years, 1 month.
Ann grew up in the Delhi community and graduated from Delhi High School in 1949. She was married to Melvin Ray Mills at Erick, Oklahoma on February 3, 1950. After their marriage, Ann worked at the Sayre newspaper until moving to Borger, Texas in 1950. Ann and Melvin moved to Panhandle, Texas in 1952 when Melvin went to work at Pantex Ordiance Plant. Ann was employed as city clerk for Panhandle from 1961 until she retired in January 1988.
Melvin and Ann moved back to Erick in June of 1991 when Melvin retired from Pantex. Ann was a member of the Erick First Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Panhandle for over 50 years, and a member of the McDowell Music Club from 1991 until 2016. Ann also enjoyed cooking, sewing and singing in the choir at church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin, of the home; 2 children, Janna
Johnson and husband, Fred, Amarillo, TX and David Mills and wife, Gay, Amarillo,
TX; 2 grandchildren, Amy Slaton and husband, John, Amarillo, TX and Ashley
McKinley and husband, Gavin, Alexandria, VA; 4 great grandchildren, Andrew and
Allison Slaton and Syndey Ann and Margaret McKinley and a host of other
relatives and friends.
