Marcia Jean Mayes was born February 22, 1941 in Erick,
Oklahoma to Nola Marcelle and Elmo Lee Mayes. She passed away March 25, 2016 at
Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 3 days.
Jean grew up in Erick graduating in 1959 from Erick High School. In the early
60's she left Erick and moved to the Tulsa and Chouteau areas where she worked
for Port of Catoosa as a bookkeeper and later became an Oklahoma tag agent and
was a public tax accountant. In 1992 she moved back to Erick to care for her
mother and went to work at Meador Drug and also helped individuals complete
their taxes. Jean was active in all the communities that she lived in, but in
Erick was a secretary and treasurer for the Erick Chamber of Commerce and also
for the First Christian Church Women’s Association. She owned and operated the
snow cone stand in Erick and was the coordinator for the little league baseball
association. Jean was also a member of the Erick Riding Club and she always
loved animals and her miniature yorkie "Zoie" held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her aunt, Billie Meador, Erick, OK; cousins, Warren Meador,
Elk City, OK, Gay Dorrell and husband, Roger, Texola, OK, Brad Meador and wife,
Kara and family, Cincinnati, OH, Brent Meador and wife, Kassie and family, Elk
City, OK, Crystal Bixler and husband, Jason and family, San Antonio, TX, Ashley
Yates and husband, Tim and family, Blanchard, OK, Clay Dorrell, Texola, OK,
Lauren Spain and husband, David, Colorado Springs, CO and Evan Meador, Elk City,
OK and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 27 from 1:00pm-8:00pm and Monday, March 28 from 9:00am-8:00pm. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 28 from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
