Bertha Beck was born November 10, 1922 in Delaware County, Oklahoma to
Clarence and Mable Hughes. She passed away June 14, 2014 at Pampa, Texas
at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Bertha grew up in Jay, Oklahoma and attended Mount Hermon School. She
was married to Cleo William Beck at Gainesville, Missouri on October 5,
1940. They lived in the Jay area until Cleo joined the US Army and
Bertha followed him during his service. After his discharge in 1947 they
lived in Santana,
Kansas until 1952 when they moved to Erick, Oklahoma. They later moved
to Pampa, Texas in 1966 and they remained there for 20 years until
returning to Erick to make her home. Bertha was a devoted mother to her
family and spent countless hours cooking, sewing and making sure their
needs were taken care of. Her children have fond memories of the meals
she prepared especially her fried chicken and Divinity candy. Bertha
loved quilting and was a member of the Erick Quilting Club. She had won
several ribbons for her work and made sure each of her family received a
quilt of their own. She was a member of the Erick First Baptist Church.
She helped with Sunday School and was very active in the Children's
Activities at the Church while her children were small.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Betty Jo
Blevins, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
She is survived by her children, Billy Beck and wife, Belinda, of
Shamrock, TX, Larry Beck and wife, Tommye, of Pampa, TX, Carolyn Bradley
of Pampa, TX, Maryoln Topper and husband, Wayne, of Pampa, TX, Brenda
Black of Colorado Springs, CO, Randy Beck of Pampa, TX, 2 sisters,
Dorothy Burton of Owasso, OK and Gladys Wilkins of Jay, OK; 10
grandchildren, Lisa Busch of Colorado Springs, OK, Brian Beck of Pampa,
TX, Marty Beck of Elk City, OK, Brandi Rabel of Pampa, TX, Lanisa
Steward of Pampa, TX, Chad Blevins of Sweetwater, OK, Chris Bradley of
Pampa, TX, Gerald Creed of Manhattan, KS, Chris Seay of Clarendon, TX
and Jeremy Seay of Lone Oak, TX; 15 great grandchildren, 6 great great
grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like express their gratitude to Jordan Douglas of
Interim Hospice of Pampa for the loving care she gave to Bertha. They
also request memorial donations be made to the Texola Baptist Church and
the Erick First Baptist Church.

The family will greet friends at the funeral
home on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 PM. Friends may come by the funeral
home for visitation beginning Monday at Noon until Wednesday at 12:30
pm.
