Last rites for Joel Marion Worley of Sayre, Oklahoma were held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Sayre. He died at 11:00 p.m. Satuday following a long illness.
Mr. Worley was born July 29, 1875 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and was married December 22, 1907 to Emma Bell Carsier of Hollis, Oklahoma.
He lived in the Durham community several years until a few years ago. He moved to Oklahoma City where he resided until three months ago when he moved to Sayre.
He was a long time member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Worley, of the home address; five daughters, Mrs. Willa Mae Taylor of Bristow, Oklahoma; Mrs. Anna Belle Ellis, Pagoa Springs, Colorado; Mrs Jessie Creach, Fowler, Colorado; Mrs. Oleta Spurlin, Sayre; Mrs. Virgie Lee Wallace, Oklahoma City. Three sons: Orien of Susanville, California; Joel of Denver, Colorado; and Laverne, Oklahoma City. Two sisters: Mrs. Laura Gerlach, Fort Worth, Texas; and Mrs Fannie Gerlach, Memphis, Texas. One brother, Arthur Worley, Canadian, Texas; 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The Rev. V.A. Jones officiated at the service. Burial was in the Sayre-Doxey
