She passed away October 30, 2017 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 15 days.
JoAnn moved with her family to Oklahoma where they lived in the Willow and Carter communities as she grew up. She graduated from Carter High School in 1945. On May 25, 1946, she was married to R. F. Thompson, Jr. at Carter, Oklahoma. They remained in Carter, for a time, before moving to Sunny Point where they owned and operated a gas station and store. When they moved from Sunny Point, they would move to Oklahoma City, Kansas City and Udall, KS where they lived until 1963 before moving to League City, TX. JoAnn and Bob returned to Oklahoma in August of 1975 and made their home in Sayre. She and Bob owned the Sayre Ice Cream Parlor for several years before selling it. JoAnn continued to stay busy answering the phones for their business, Bob's Heating and Air as well as helping on the farm.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Arnold Bruce Thompson; a grandson, Branden Thompson, and a sister, Annie Victoria Weaver.
She is survived by her husband, R. F. "Bob" Thompson, Jr., 2 children, Aileen Thompson Svaty and husband, Ken, Rowlett, TX, and Eddie Norris Thompson, Sayre, OK; 4 grandchildren, Chris Svaty, Yuma, AZ, Keith Svaty, Rowlett, TX, Megan Venegas, Houston, TX, and Michael Thompson, Houston, TX; 2 great grandchildren, Kayla and Luis Venegas, and a host of other relatives, and friends.This site may be freely linked, but not duplicated in any way without consent.
