Woodrow Loyd Sims was born October 23, 1912 in Roll, Oklahoma to Martha Ellen and T. B. Sims. He passed away January 14, 2002 in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 21 days.Woodrow was married to Gladys V. Davis at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on May 11, 1934 and they remained in the Cheyenne community where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement. Due to health problems, he had recently moved to Amarillo to be near his daughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one grandson; four brothers; and three sisters.
Services will be held Thursday January 17, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at Rose Chapel, officiated by Ray Smart. Burial will be at the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral service.
Survivors include four daughters, Oleta Cree of Amarillo, Texas; Ann Macklin of Amarillo, Texas; Darlene Carter of Hereford, Texas; Rhonda Lowell of Elk City, Oklahoma; four sons, Bob Sims of Amarillo, Texas; Loyd Sims of Amarillo, Texas; James Sims of West Palm Beach, Florida; Ron Sims of West Palm Beach, Florida; twenty grandchildren; ninetten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Chick of Grand Junction, Colorado; and a host of relatives and friends.
