Cleta Mae Sides was born May 16, 1939 in Delhi, Oklahoma to Neval and Ancel Alexander Pope. She passed away May 13, 2016 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 27 days.

Cleta graduated from Delhi School in 1957 and then worked as a nurse's aide at the old Sayre Hospital. She moved to Bethany, Oklahoma where she continued her education at Nazarene College. She later moved to Valdosta, Georgia gave birth to a son, Donnie Smith and remained there a few years before returning to Sayre. She began working for her brother and sister-in-law at their DX station before starting her career at Sayre Schools/Sayre Junior College.

Cleta was married to John L. Sides at Sayre, OK on July 1, 1978. She earned her Associates Degree from Sayre Junior College in May of 1980 all the while working as the Administrative Assistant to Paul Conner. After retiring in the late 80's, she and John enjoyed traveling across the country to study the genealogy of the family. She enjoyed camping and working with her hands doing crafts and ceramics. The most important thing in Cleta's life was her family, who she loved to cook for and entertain. Cleta was a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a step-son, Mike Sides, a brother, Kenneth Eugene Pope and a sister, Nelda Darlene Pope.

She is survived by her son, Donnie Smith and wife, Megan, Sayre, OK; step-sons, Dale Sides and wife, Barbara, Fairview, OK, Jerry Sides, Oklahoma City, OK and Larry Sides, Sayre, OK; a brother, Ben Pope and wife, Jewel, Sayre, OK; a sister, Wanda Wiens, OKC, OK, and a host of other relatives and friends.
