Barbara Lou (Burton) (Jarvis) Richardson

Barbara Lou Richardson was born April 23, 1947 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Mary Lou and Cletus Eugene Burton. She passed away May 15, 2014 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years and 22 days.
 
Barbara grew up and spent her childhood in Okmulgee, Oklahoma until 1965. She was married Ellis Ray Jarvis and at the age of 18 moved to Hobart, Oklahoma. She raised two children and worked as a telephone operator for many years. Barbara began pursuing a career in the medical field by attending Burns Flat Vocational school where she attended Licensed Practical Nursing classes. She graduated from LPN school in the mid 70's and began working at Elkview General Hospital in Hobart until she began working at Community Hospital in Elk City, now know as Great Plains Regional Medical Center. After moving to Elk City, she was married to Ovie Dale "O.D." Richardson on December 2, 1982. Barbara gained 3 more children and a few grandchildren. She later wanted to further her education to become an Registered Nurse. With sheer determination she completed the RUE Education courses and obtained her RN degree in 2000. She continued to provide care to patients and be mentor other nurses until November of 2009 when she retired. Barbara loved her family more than anything and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and especially making fleece blankets for family and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Donald Richardson and one brother, Ronald Burton.
 
She is survived by her husband, O.D., of the home; 4 children, Lori Parker and husband, Jim of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Ginger Baumann and husband, Rooster of Douglas, WY, David Richardson and wife, Cindy of Chino Valley, AZ and Krista Clem and husband, Matt of Elk City, OK; 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and sisters, Joe Burton and wife, Karen of Mannford, OK, Bonnie Fohrell and husband, Fred of Waterloo, IL, Jackie Burton and Bea Lederle, St. Louis, MO and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Services will be held Monday, May 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Fellowship officiated by Andy Taylor. Burial will be at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
