Polie Varnell

Funeral services for Polie Varnell will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Assembly of God Church of Sayre with Rev. Damon Akins and Rev. Floyd Courtney officiating. Burial will be in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Sayre.
J.N. "Polie" Varnell was born May 5, 1931 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to John Franklin and Nellie Dodson Varnell and died Saturday October 16, 1999 at the age of 68. He made his home in Beckham and Roger Mills County where he farmed and ranched. He worked for Dr. Speed for 23 years while in the Sayre area in the early 50's. He married June Robinson on March 12, 1955 in Las Cruses, New Mexico.
Survivors include his wife June Varnell of Sayre home, three sons, Polie Varnell, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Sayre, Oklahoma; Gaylen Varnell and his wife Lynette of Ford, Kansas and George Varnell and his wife Susan of Sayre; and Jack Varnell of Harmony, West Virginia; four sisters, Ruth Musick of Cheyenne, Florence Cox of Erick, Oklahoma, Lois Marshall of Sayre and Faye Lievy of Reno, Nevada; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
