Albert A. "Big Al" Poths was born August 19, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Viola Ruth and Albert Ernest Poths. He passed away December 30, 2015 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Albert spent most of his childhood in Chicago, Illinois and later moved with his family to Nebraska. He furthered his education by attending college for 3 years before obtaining employment with Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell. Albert spent a lot of his time traveling with these companies performing central office installations. He was transferred to Elk City where he later began working for Dobson Communications. In 2003, Albert retired and remained in the Sayre and Elk City areas. He was of the Catholic faith and had a passion for model railroading and could answer any question concerning an engine or a caboose.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
He was survived by his close friend, Joey Mendoza of Sayre, OK and the nurses and staff at Hensley's Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery officiated by Kendell Hamilton. Burial will be at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
