Virginia D. (Puckett) McLean was born August 4, 1923 on the
family dairy farm north of Sayre, Oklahoma to Viola J. and Tony S. Puckett. She
passed away March 12, 2016 at her home at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 8
days.
Virginia grew up north of Sayre and attended schools at Short Creek and New
Liberty. At the age of 16 she was married to Bud A. McLean at New Liberty
Methodist Church on June 22, 1940. After their marriage they made their home on
the McLean family farm for 44 years before moving to Sayre in 1984. Virginia and
Bud continued to farm until Bud's stroke in 1987 at which time Virginia devoted
all of her time and energy into taking care of her husband. In 1993, after Bud's
death, she continued to live in Sayre and spent her time cooking, serving within
the home extension club, traveling to sporting activities with her friends and
spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 9 brothers and sisters, Carl
Puckett, Roy Puckett, Kermitt Puckett, Mary Culp, T.S. Puckett, Jr., Dorothy
Brauchi, Henry Puckett, Bert Puckett and Jewel Woods.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Kay, Oklahoma City, OK; son and
daughter-in-law, Ronnie L. McLean and wife, Cheryl, Altus, OK; 3 grandsons,
Kelly Kay and wife, Jennifer, Edmond, OK, Bryan Kay, Houston, TX and Darren Kay
and wife, Karen, Indianapolis, IN; 5 great grandchildren, Jaxon, Cameron and
Carson Kay, Edmond, OK and Allen and Mason Kay, Indianapolis, IN; 1 niece she
raised, Jimmye Langford, Houston, TX a host of other relatives and friends.
