Travis L. Hysmith died May 14, 2016 at the age of 85 in his home in Amarillo, Texas. Travis was born in Delhi, Oklahoma on May 31, 1930 to his parents, Frank and Dora "Doll" (Morris) Hysmith.
He graduated from Merritt High School. Travis married Lorna Lorraine Addis on June 18, 1950 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Travis left the farm life in 1950 to move to Borger, Texas for a better living at the Phillips Refinery where he retired in 1985 after 35 years. He lived in Borger for 50 years then moved to Amarillo, Texas. Travis also spent many years working with J. C. and Gladys Morris who were brother and sister on the farm in Sayre, Oklahoma. Travis and Lorraine bought the farm and continued farming which was the life in Sayre and Elk City that never left his heart. He was a Mason and a member of the Boots and Calico Square Dancing Club.
Travis went to be with his parents, Frank and Dora "Doll" Hysmith, a daughter, Diana' (Hysmith) Hooks, a son-in-law, Billy Hooks, a brother, Melvin Hysmith, a sister, Geneva (Hysmith) Walker and his cherished aunts and uncles.
He is survived his wife of 65 years, Lorraine (Addis)
Hysmith, his son, Larry "Buffalo" Hysmith and wife, Danna, of Fritch, Texas; 2
daughters, Connie Neely and husband, Darrell of Amarillo, Texas; Deana Greene
and husband, Lloyd of Borger, Texas; 2 sisters, Margie Dean of Borger, Texas;
Frankie Jean Music of Pampa, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a
great granddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the charity of
your choice.
