Clifford Alvin Hunter was born October 11, 1949 in his
family's home at Ft. Supply, Oklahoma to Rhea Mae (Swallow) and Clifford Lee
Hunter. He passed away April 14, 2015 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age
of 65 years, 6 months and 3 days.
Clifford grew up in Ft. Supply and graduated from high school in 1967. After
graduation, he was married to Lanell (Hudspeth) on August 11, 1967 in Ft.
Supply, Oklahoma. To this union 4 children were born. Clifford and Lanell
made their home in Ft.
Supply and was employed at Western State Hospital as an aid and was being
trained to be an LPN. In the mid 80's, Clifford moved to Elk City where he
began his own painting business which led him to the oilfield and it was
here that he met Violet Bison. They were later married at Arapaho, Oklahoma
on July 10, 1987 and he gained 3 children that he thought of as his own.
Clifford and Violet made their home in Elk City and continued to own and
operate Hunter Painting together. In September of 2003 ill health forced his
retirement. Clifford was an avid fisherman, enjoyed going to the car races,
playing pool, making jokes with grandchildren and traveling. Clifford's
greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and keeping up with
Shawn and his collegiate baseball career at OU and watching Kali's tennis
career progress.
He is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, 2 infant children, 1
brother, Donald Eugene Hunter, 1 sister, Anna Mae Hunter and 1
brother-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Violet, of the home; 5 children, Kelli Plante
and companion, Kevin Vang, Woodward, OK, Jeff Hunter and companion, Samantha
McReynolds, Arnett, OK, Rena Poole and husband, Marlin, Elk City, OK,
Lucinda Hamilton and husband, Darin, Grapevine, TX, Chuck Bison and wife,
Courtney, Chicago, IL; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 brothers,
Dewayne Hunter and wife, Sharon, Woodward, OK, Karl Hunter and wife, Mindy,
Ft. Supply, OK; 2 sisters, Joyce Pettey and husband, Don, Ft. Supply, OK,
Debbie Hoffert and husband, David, Woodward, OK; 9 nieces and nephews, and a
host of other relatives and friends.
