Obit for Bessie posted by Martha Reddout
Bessie grew up 3 miles north of Sayre on the family farm and attended school at New Liberty graduating valedictorian in 1940. After graduation, she remained in Sayre and was married to Cletius Hilley on March 6, 1943. While Cletius was in the armed forces and was deployed Bessie drove a delivery truck for a cleaning and laundry service. In 1949, Bessie and Cletius moved to Oklahoma City where they managed Nuway Cleaners and Bessie enjoyed taking care of her only granddaughter at the time. Later on she was blessed with two more grandchildren and enjoyed taking care of them as well. She also enjoyed reading romance novels and cooking. Bessie was an outgoing and personable person who had many friends and was loved by all the nurses in the nursing home where she resided for the last 10 years. To some she was affectionately known as "Bossy Bessie".
