Thomas Elvern Easter was born October 12, 1924 in Carter, Oklahoma
to Charlie Abi and Carrie Ann (Thompson) Easter. He passed away May
19, 2014 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 7
days.
Elvern grew up on a farm near in the Highway community northeast of
Carter, Oklahoma. He was married to Ida Myrl West at Reno, Nevada on
June 10, 1944 and they lived in California for a short time. They
later moved to Borger, TX before returning to Oklahoma in 1947 and
began farming
in the Spring Creek area. They lived in the Delhi community until
moving to Sayre in 1966. In 1971 they opened Easter's Service
Station and Easter's Motel. They closed the station in the late
90's, but continued to operate the motel. Elvern enjoyed going to
the horse races, watching his children and great grandchildren
participate in sports and following OU sports and the OKC Thunder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Sandra
Jean Easter, a son, Dee Arlin Easter, a daughter-in-law, Jennie Lee
Easter, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Kay Laxton and husband, Jay
Ray, Sayre, OK; son, Tommy Glen Easter and wife, Janet, Sayre, OK; 8
grandchildren, Kim Reynolds, Jennifer Jones, Eric Easter, Dedra
Easter, Shanna Foale, Kassy Easter, Kory Easter and Karly Easter, 9
great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers,
Charles Delbert Easter, Elk City, OK and Joe Evan Easter, Elk City,
OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
